Stuart Murphy (Co-Founder, CEO)
Stu has been educating and helping people discover new wines for over 10 years. While his professional career has been focused in E-Commerce, primarily in Strategy, Analytics & Sales, helping national brands grow and optimize their digital loyalty programs, his nights and weekends have been spent in specialty wine stores and vineyards, helping people overcome the barriers and pain points in the wine buying experience. Having worked first hand with local businesses, he understands the pains they face in a quickly digitizing world. He truly believes that the technologies in place that hurt local retail can similarly be used to empower them.
Stuart holds a BA in Social Anthropology from the University of Virginia, as well as an MBA & MSc in Data Science from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. While in school, he headed the Wine & Spirits club, and led a team of finalists in the prestigious Left Bank of Bordeaux Cup in London. He is currently studying for his WSET Level 3 qualification and lives Washington D.C. with his wife, Emily, and pup, Charlie. When not at work, you can find him eating and drinking his way through the lesser known neighborhoods of the city, trying to discover the city’s hidden gems.
Mazen Khattar (Co-Founder, CTO)
Mazen brings 9 years of engineering and management experience to the team. Previous to SIPTIP, Mazen oversaw multi-million-dollar technical projects in the education & consumer goods throughout Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. He has also consulted at an executive level and with companies such as Huawei & HSBC to help them identify their digital growth KPIs, working with marketing teams to build analytics frameworks around their Social & Programmatic advertising efforts. Mazen has always loved wine, but it wasn’t until he arrived in Spain that he became enamored by its complexity, regional variation, and by its power to bring people together over good times.
Mazen holds a BE in Computer Engineering from the Lebanese American University in Lebanon and an MBA from IE Business School in Madrid, Spain. When not at work you can find Mazen either digging through new technological trends or enjoying techno musical festivals.
